Trousers worn by cyclist Eddie Smart, c.1960s

Description

Eddie Smart represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1966. He competed in the Scratch Race, Kilo, Sprint, Individual Pursuit and Road Race.

Smart later became a coach and kept a garage on Maindy Road, Cardiff. He and his friend Steve Jones were tragically killed in a car accident on the M4 in Berkshire. The Eddie Smart Memorial Shield is presented to the best Welsh rider at the annual Junior Tour of Wales.
