Ballerina Waxcap by Susan Davies
Description
Scientific Name: Hygrocybe calyptriformis
Fungi facts: The Pink waxcap is one of the rarer species occurring in ‘waxcap’ grasslands. It is the prettiest waxcap and occurs in both acidic and neutral closely grazed grasslands and pastures. It is also found in churchyards. The decline in our waxcap fungi is mainly due to changes in agricultural practices but it is still not certain whether these species grow on dead vegetation or are associated in some way with mosses.
Technique: Appliqué with hand stitching
