The family of Richard Edwards, Nantwatcyn, Cwmystwyth
Description
A group photograph showing members of Richard Edwards' family who lived in Nantwatcyn - a house built in the middle of the lead mines. Back row: Alfred Edwards, William Edwards (who died in WW1). Mid row: Richard Edwards, Ifor Edwards, Margaret Edwards, Jack Edwards (who went on to live in Nevill Place), Winifred Edwards. Front: Myforwen Edwards and Gwen Edwards. In 1843, before the house was built, an attempt was made to establish a Wesleyan chapel on the site and they went so far as to build foundations for the chapel. However the attempt failed because there were not enough members to make it viable. Today (2026) there is a pottery at Nantwatcyn.
