Graigfachddu Cottages, Abercorris / Cwmodyn quarry, Upper Corris. In front of the dam of the reservoir just above the slate mill complex, someone has hung an interesting object. It is believed to be a cradle, made to hold a quarryman as he is raised or lowered against the rock face, to enable him to drill the rock to insert black powder for blasting. Note also the fine slate carvings left there by a visiting sculptor a few years ago.
