Description

The open chamber of the lower workings. In the bottom centre of the picture is the flooded shaft to the bottom level. Rising near vertically from this shaft is the remains of the incline up to the top of the chamber to pull the slate and waste up to the tramway on the upper levels for transit to the upper waste tip. This quarry must have struggled to find places to tip it's waste economically.
