Victorian era Glamorgan Constabulary police officer
Description
A Carte de Visite showing a police Constable of the Glamorganshire Constabulary c 1895. His collar letter is 'A' which, at that time was the force 'A' or Merthyr Tydfil Division. It wasn't until 1908, that Merthyr Tydfil formed its own police force.
His tunic of the time had no pockets and the one chevron on the right sleeve denoted that he held the rank of Constable 2nd Class.
