Description

Ray Gunn was promoted to Corporal and posted to RAF Marham in March 1978. Ray worked in the re-fuelling section providing for Canberra and Victor aeroplanes. The Victors were air to air tankers re-fuelling Phantom and Lightning fighter jets,which protected our air space during the 'Cold War' against Russia. The Canberra bombers were used for air reconnaissance duties. Several times during the 'Cold War' the antipathy between democratic nations and the Eastern Block came close to causing an outright global war( World War 3). It was very serious at the time, all of it due to politics.
