Description

The infamous Arthur's DIY in Cardiff Road, Taffs Well. Arthur Bickerton was the owner of the shop and features in the photo however he wasn t the actual Arthur who gave the shop its name. He was the previous owner!!
It is said that the shop was the inspiration of the popular TV series "Open All Hours" as David Jason, its star, was a regular visitor to the shop as his then partner, Myfanwy Talog used to live in Glan y Llyn.

The original inspiration that Arthur’s was responsible for was alleged to have been the Four Candles sketch in the Two Ronnies. Open All Hours came later.
