War Reserve Constable and Nurse

Description

Postcard photograph of a nurse and a WWII Police Constable of the Glamorgan Constabulary. On the Constables collar are the letters W.R and numbers 68.

68 is his force number and WR indicates that he is a War Reserve officer. There is no other information in the photograph to give more details about the lady, who I am presuming is a nurse. Their names are not known.

During the war, reserve Constables were employed by the police. Usually, they were recruited from those who had previous service in the police or military.

Postally unused. On the back of the photograph is a partially legible stamp mark, 'T. Tidball, Photographic Artist, 13 Station Terr; Nantyfyllon, Glam.'

Nantyfyllon is near Maesteg.
