Copy of the works of Dafydd ap Gwilym by Owain Myfyr, 1768 [front cover, image 1 of 20]

Description

A copy made in 1768 by Owen Jones (Owain Myfyr, 1741-1814) of the works of Dafydd ap Gwilym (fl. 1315/20-1350-70). Owain Myfyr was a native of Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, Denbighshire. As a young boy he went to London to work as an apprentice skinner, where he later established his own highly-successful business. While in London his interest in Welsh literature was fostered by his friendships with individuals such as Richard Morris (1703-79), one of the founders of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion (est. 1751).
