Description

Linocut print of MAtthew Arnold by Paul Peter Piech.

Matthew Arnold was a poet and cultural critic who is known as a sage writer, a writer who would instruct and reprimand the reader on contemporary social issues. Although he has written on a variety of topics, he is best known for themes such as nature, modern society and moral instruction. He published one of his major works, Culture and Anarchy in 1868 and today his work as a literary engineer is as well-known as his poetry.
