T.S. Eliot was an American poet, writer, playwright and literary critic who spent much of his life living and working in England before becoming a British subject in 1927. He is regarded as a literary giant of the twentieth century, and a notable modernist poet. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948 for his outstanding and pioneering contribution to poetry.
