Description

The rolags produced by carding are ready for spinning, but these contain 'vegetable matter' that caught on the fleece as the sheep grazed on the hillsides. The families working on sorting and carding the raw fleece would have been vulnerable to infection and diseases. Later the fleeces were washed before these early stage processes. There is still a building by the riverside in the village of Pandy in Glyn Ceriog called the Washing Mill.
