Richard is pictured holding the Wellington Cup, which he won that year - on 11th July 1954.

Richard was awarded a small, engraved shield to commemorate his win.

Originally from Llanbrynmair, Richard owned the newsagent's shop in North Street, Rhayader - lived there with his wife Emily Haulwen and daughter Mary Emily Margaret Price.
