Pembroke Dock County School c1900

Description

It was reported in the South Wales Daily News on 18th August 1893 that the war department had agreed to sell a suitable piece of land to the school committee for £500. The school itself opened on January 1st 1895 with 56 boys and 40 girls enrolled. The Headmaster was Mr T.R. Dawes and the Head Mistress, Miss Ida Perman M.A. "who was well known at Aberystwyth as the first lady to take her M.A. degree from that college." (South Wales Daily News 26/01/1895).
