Photoscoot 2020: St Mary's Church, Grays Inn Road, Aberystwyth
Description
The 'Aberystwyth Official Guide and Souvenir' published by the Aberystwyth Corporation in 1924 notes that services are given in Welsh with Canon D Williams presiding. The church was established by Rev E O Phillips (later Dean of St Davids) in 1863-1866, to serve Welsh-speaking members of the established church, on land donated by Colonel Powell of Nanteos. It was built to designs of William Butterfield.
The church is shown on the map of the Edward J Burrows Co guide produced around 1905, but the Welsh services held there are not noted in the text.
