Members of the Mulhall family, Rhyd yr Indiaid (Paso de los Indios), c. 1890s

Description

What The Mulhall family were of Irish origin but had settled in Buenos Aires since the early nineteenth century. They were the owners of the English-language newspaper, 'The Buenos Aires Standard'. Michael G. Mulhall married the sister of the photographer John Murray Thomas and settled in Patagonia. His brother, Francisco Mulhall settled in Cwm Hyfryd (Bro Hydref).

To the left of the photograph is the 'asado' - the traditional method of roasting meat outside.
