Register of the emigrants who had free passage to the Settlement in 1875 [inside front cover, image 1 of 16]

Description

Register of the individuals who emigrated to Patagonia in 1875 by taking advantage of the free passage scheme introduced by the Argentine government. As well as offering free passage to five hundred emigrants, the scheme also offered land and money to pay for carriage and settlement costs. The register was compiled by the Rev. Michael D. Jones, who used lists of names provided by R. Powel (Elaig), Robert Hughes, and Francisco Torrone, Emigration Officer for the Argentine Republic.
