Description

Photography by John Ball - 4 June 1998 (with Agfa ePhoto-307 digital camera)

I discovered this 150-year-old Welsh Chapel at Cwmwysg in the valley of the River Usk, a mile or two downstream from the Usk reservoir, and about two miles west of the village of Trecastle. (Cwmwysg is Welsh for "Usk Valley")

Approaching the chapel from the Trecastle road.

Saron Independent Chapel. The present building was erected in the 1850s.

Image 3:

The extensive graveyard behind the chapel is still in use and well cared for.

Image 4:

The chapel is protected by the hills each side of the Usk Valley.
