Letter from the trenches from Harry White, August 1916
Description
Transcription:
My dearest Lillie
Your parcel reached me safely and am much indebted for your kindness. Until the next week is over I have written you to withhold the one you are preparing and if so fortunate will send word immediately after. We are back in the zone now and shall not be sorry when we move closer up and begin the worst and get it finished with. It is difficult to think freely in such times, one’s thoughts go round and round and allow little else to remain permanently within the circle. The summer seems to have reached its height.
Fondest love
Yours
Harry
