Fred Stott at home on leave at Castleland Street Barry

Description

Fred died as a result of his ship HMS Gallardia hitting a mine and sinking with the loss of the entire crew on the 22nd March 1918, he was the leading Telegraphist aged just 21.

Fred was born in Biddulf Staffordshire where his father William was a CO-OP manager. The family moved around England with the CO-OP, Worksop, Chester, Biddulf, Litchfield and Canterbury, before ending up at 84 Castleland St Barry, where this photo was taken, his name appears on the war memorial in Biddulf as well as Barry
