The date when this receipt was made is unknown. Having been found in the same folder as the records relating to pawnbrokers A. J. Jacobs & Sons, it can be assumed the letter dates from the 1920s-1930s.

The company's address was 51 and 52 High Street, Newport. This location has since been turned into a pub (which went on to become the oldest in Newport) before it was more recently renovated into a bar and live music venue.
