Two copies of 'The Court Leet' by Derek Thomas Penally Pembrokeshire

Description

Two copies of The Court Leet by Derek Thomas. This describes what a court leet is and when they were set up to administer the tithings. There is information about the payments that people had to pay tenants had to attend court or pay a fine. Most records of Penally Leet have been lost but the court is believed to have been held at Court Farm Penally. One document which survives from the 17th century is an order from the steward to the bailiff to seize 16/10 worth of goods from John Gibbon of Penally who had unjustly detained Thomas Water's beasts.
