Description

Information about Hearston (Hearson) Camp on land known as Hearson Mountain. Land on Hill Farm was also used to accommodate the troops. Land on Newton Mountain was also used. Portuguese troops were also accommodated. Information at end of article re William Luke of Hearson Farm who gave land in 1815 to build a chapel later know as Hearson Mountain Chapel but when built in 1821 was called Hill Mountain.
