James Samuels-Landlord of the Coach & horses at
Llaniddell - says about 1/2 past 11 O'clock on

Sunday night the 3rd November several hundreds

of people came to my house - Two men in particular

one tall man in a smock frock came inside &
ordered many quarts of Beer which I was forced
to supply them with - & the man in the frock once

pushed his pike at me because I did not draw

the beer fast enough -

^They had a great deal to eat & drink

The first party paid little or nothing those that came afterwards
paid- the best part -// Many of them were armed - Guns pikes & Staves

^ About 1/2 past One Zephaniah
Williams came in & a few with him - He called
for a pint of beer & sat down by the fire to dry himself
& drink it - Z. Williams looked very low in spirits
He did not appear to be armed - I heard him say
to a person near ^him that they were very late that
they ought to be at Newport sooner than they would
be Z. asked me where ^were my horses- I said they
were on the upper land called Pont y rara [*]-
(the horses were in my stable at the time but^thatI
had one in the Stable- He ordered horse
and tram to be got ready immediately to go to Newport

& my servant went with it - his name is Henry I
don't [know] what his other name is - I do not know who
went in the Tram - my servant did not return
until Wednesday night - Zephaniah Williams
did not stay long after the Tram was ready -
Zephaniah promised to pay for the Tram - &
paid the beer he had - ______ James Samuel
