Newport __ Decr 15th 1839

Sir,
I came down this day on purpose
to see you and have 5 Minutes talk over
John Llewellyn's case I am informed that
that he is prepared with Bail and that
application will be made to the Magistrates
tomorrow for that purpose - I am also informed
that John Probyn of the Kings Head Ponty-Pool -
is to be one of the Bail - There has been
several Chartists' Meetings held in his house
and I believe that a short time ago in Geach's
Bankruptcy he pleaded that he was insolvent
I would also wish to point out the danger
of allowing a man like him to return
to the neighbourhood which has so recently
been in a state of Rebellion

and I have some hopes of at having
much stronger evidence against him
before his trial - I therefore trust you
will direct your attention to this
subject -

I am Sir with Great Respect
Your most obedient Servant
David Jones

Mr W H. T. Phelps Esqr
Newport
