Tailor & mercer-
I had occasion to call at
Mr Fothergill at the Pontniwydd
Shop this day about
4 o clock. He enquired
of me how we got on at
Newport he informed
me that as he came
out of Chapel the Sund-y
3 - Novr at Abersychan.
He was informed that the
Chartists had taken the
poss-on of his Shop at
Pontnewydd. He ...
it to Mr Harrison ...

they went down to see
the state of the Premises
& found all was right
but procee-d towards
Llewellins House as
He knew him to be a chartist

Bank - He Fothergill was
on the pony & Harrison
on foot & they agreed to stay

molested - A young man whistled Jim

newly ground - Mr Fothergill seemed
frightened and called to Mr Harrison
and said do you see this ? It's high
time for us to be off - Harrison
said very well we'll do so - I think
Mr Fothergill told me that they
went to Pontypool - In the course
of a very few minutes they returned
for Abersychan - to see the state
of his House and shop there near Mr
Duffield 's he found that the Chartists
were at his House and one of his

him and he took refuge in Mr Duffield 's Cellar -
and in the course of some time he returned
home after the Chartists had passed
Duffield's premises by their saying there
is no one here but a parcel of
women - When he went home He
wa[s] informed that the Chartists had been
there inquiring for him - to which the
Servant replied he was not at
home - they said who have you here -
She replied that Mr Owen Pearse was

there - Who else they inquired - the said
. his Brother the Doctor - Lets
have them out said the Chartists - they

went out - and ^ detained there four
hours about the Road -
