Description

Hill - I have examined all the Weapons and articles now produced, &
am quite satisfied they are the same I took from the Prisoner's person
There was no blow struck until one of the Mob fired a shot - Every
part of the Prisoner was wet when I took him, he was all covered with
dirt - I felt him all over and he was all wet and muddy

Edward Hopkins (Sworn) Says - I am a Police Officer of Newport. I
did not apprehend the prisoner - the Articles now produced were delivered
to me by Mr. John O'Dwyer and are now in the same state as when
I received them - I know nothing of the prisoner - the Articles now
produced have been in my possession ever since I received them from Mr.
O'Dwyer - the charge of Powder in the pistol was so wet that I could not
get it out - I think the Pistol is loaded with a Bullet
