Newport Chartists Vol.4, p.3

Description

3 [top right corner]

the men are determined there will be great
loss of life - The special constables at the different
iron works are required to be ready at a moments
notice - Should our men turn out which we have
some reason to fear - However every precaution
that we can take we are adopting but this state of
things is productive of great mischief in every point
of view and until the Beer houses are suppressed
or placed under the control of the magistrates
they will continue to be a resort for the illdisposed
and afford them means of congregating in small
bodies to concoct underground their plans in
the different Collieries and mines one delegate
from each Colliery meet and thus are their
plans diffused amongst the men - Hoping to
hear from you by return of post as to the point
raised upon the service of the Lists of Witnesses
I remain etc

Will you please return me the examons
I let you have at Monmouth - I have
no copy of them -
