in consequence their being wet
and not being able to get them up
after changing my Stockings and
I eventually found myself at
the Cefn We were taken into a
Public House where we were
supplied with Beer which I paid
for After waiting there half an
hour we were ordered to march
on I knew that we were then going
Risca and heard orders given to
march that way Whilst we were
on the Road. I said to one of the Men
that I had heard Mr Frosts name
mentioned I asked where he was
the man said he did not know
then but would try to find him
out for me. We marched on to
where the Tram Road crosses the Turnpike
Road near Risca and stop[pe]dat a Public House
there I ordered some Beer being
much exhausted and thinking conciliatory
means the best invited the Men

to drink with me this was
just at day break at about
1/2 p[ast] 6 whilst in the room of
the Public House Frost came in
and asked for W Brough
and I immediately replied
here Sir I am very glad to see
you for that I had been dragged
thro' the country by these men
(meaning those present and
who were armed / and requested
his interference to obtain our
liberty (meaning myself and
Thomas Watkins) He expressed
his regret at our being
inconvenienced that I was
a very old friend of his x a very
good fellow but that he hated
or detested my Politics and
that we were either discharged

or discharged He immediately
left the House and proceeded
over the mountain home
I did not know any of the Men
tho I appeared to be known to
them as I often heard my name
mentioned whilst we were
going along as daylight
I observed the men
who passed and turned their Heads
from me that I should not
see their faces. The Room that
Frost came to us in was filled
with men and there being only
one candle I cannot speak
positively to the dress Frost had
on but think it was a rough
Coat on and a black Hat
