Further Evidence of W B Brough
Reg[ina] ag[ains]t. John Frost -
When I was waiting near the High Cross a light was
perceived coming towards us from the direction of Newport when we on its
arrived at the end of the party we were ordered to proceed
the other way which we did - at the Cefn I wished to -
remain as I was tired - I was told by the man who -
guarded me that Thomas John Phillips's carriage had
been taken and that they had got him, and that I
should ride to Newport. Between the first
Public House and the Welsh Oak bet[wee]n the
Turnpike Road leading to Newport &
the Canal I heard the man say who was
guarding me on the left hand
that if any one gave Evidence ag[ain]st
any of the party they had a band of Brothers
who would revenge the Chartists cause
this man had the Horse Pistol in his hand
