On Monday the 2d of December William Harris
of Blackwood was examined by Mr Tho[ma]s M
Llewellyn Sol[icito]r - at (blank)..... - His examination
was taken down in writing ( No 1.) - He was then
summoned to give evidence and was brought to
Newport on the next day (Tuesday 3d.) His evidence
was that day taken down by Mr J. H. Evans (No 2.)
(who was not aware that any written examination
had been taken before) it was read over to him.
he declared it to be correct and put his mark to it.
he appeared to be quite sober at this time -
This examination was mislaid & the next day
(Wednesday the 4th) another examination was
taken by Mr Evans (No 3) which was read
over to Harris who on being asked whether he
recollected any thing more, reminded Mr E[vans] of
what the man on horseback had said, which
was accordingly underlined (the last line but one
of pa 1). On Thursday the 5th W. Harris was
examined before the Magistrates (No 4).
