Richard Lewis of the Parish of Monythusloyne in the county of Monmouth Coal Contractor
to W. Phelps States that I knew Mr Aaron Crosfield of Newport
Ironmonger and Trader of Powder for the last six years - I am in the
habit of using large quantities of Powder in blasting the Coal I use
about 500 lbs a month I have several times purchased quantities
of Powder of Mr Crosfield- Mr Crosfield - about 500lbs at a time - Powder
is used in all the Collieries for the purpose of blasting and
it was notorious among the Colliers in the hills that Mr
Crosfield sold quantities of powder and had a -
