Beer house keeper and Collier States: That I
have known Mr Crossfield of Newport for several
years - I know him to be an extensive
Dealer in Gun Powder - Six years ago I
kept a General Shop at Crosspenmain - I was
then in the habit of purchasing large quantities
of powder of Mr Crossfield two or three Barrels
at a time - Powder is generally used in
getting the coals - it was generally known among
the Hills that Mr Crossfield was a Dealer
in powder - Mr Crossfield was also known
to the Colliers of the Hills as the proprietor
of the Trinant Colliery-
