Jno. Barton I have worked
as navigator for a month
for George Burroughs until
last Saturday on the
Merthyr Railway. I was
paid off last Saturday night
at the Angel Inn Merthyr
because there were too
many hands. I left
Merthyr the morning at 10
oclock. I came through
Dowlais Tredegar & Blackwood
& so along the Turnpike road
to Newport

We met only one man
on the Canal Bank
I do not recollect that we
met any men after we left
the Canal
