I John Howells of Tredegar in the

Parish of Bedwellty in the County of

Monmouth of my own free will and

accord Solemnly declare that I was a

Member of a Chartist Lodge held in the

House of William Bees Known by the

Sign of the Horse and Jockey licensed to

sell Beer Situated in Dukes Town in

the County of Brecon that about six

Weeks previous to the Riot I paid

to the Lodge 4d/ Thomas Brinn was

then Book Keeper. John Harris told me

since that the Books had been given

to James Morris on the Thursday before

the Rise of the Chartists in Brinn's

Books we had the names of John Harris

Thomas Thomas, Charles Morgan, my -

self and one Joseph I do not Know

his other name beside some others

in the Parish of Bedwellty in the

County of Monmouth state I saw

Thomas Bray Miner of Tinkers Row

Tredegar Iron Works on the night of

Sunday the 3rd of November Inst. leave

his own House about seven O'Clock with

a Stick of Wood about Two yards long

with an Iron or Pike at the end. Thomas

Bray has told me since his return it

was a Stick with an Iron on the end and

that he Bray went from fear
