you - they had torches - They took me down to the rest -
that was on the Tram Road - there was there between 200 &
300 men - They were armed with Guns, Scythes pikes -
mandrills and Clubs - some had nothing - They marched
down to Strickland's machine - There was another great -
quantity of men met us there - they knocked him up and asked
for arms - he said he had none - They came down the Upper Tram
Road - We came on down towards Risca - On the Road I saw -
John Batten again he spoke to me - says he you're come then
Yes sure says I - I saw John Fisher and John Batten at
Risca - John Batten shewed me a bright Cleaver with a
bright ring on it - I saw John Batten and Fisher afterwards
at the Welsh Oak - This was in the night I suppose somewhere
about the centre of the night - I did not see either of them do any
thing particular there - There was I think betwixt 2000 & 3000
people there at that time - most of them were armed - The
last place I saw John Fisher was at Pye Corner - I saw Batten
in the Tredegar Park on the next morning (Monday the 4th Novr)
when they halted - he had something in his hand then - I didn't
notice particular but I think it was the cleaver by the glittering
of it - We marched from there towards Newport - I left the mob at
the Waterloo Public House which is a little better than a mile from
Newport and the mob proceeded on towards Newport - I went on
after them into Newport and went to my old Landlords - Thomas
Habbakuk in Monkey Row, Newport and when I was there I heard firing -
