On enquiry I find that James Jenkins
have been out of town & did not get Mr Philips
letter untill yesterday. he lived with me
nearly two years before he went to Mr Briggs
I believe him to be a very respectable man
he conducted himself well when in my
service & I believe Mr Briggs did not
wish to part with him I shall feel
much pleasure in making any further
enquiries should y[ou]r friend require it
