The Queen V[ersus] W[illia]m Lloyd Jones Watchmaker
I wish to point out to the attorney for the
prosecution that on the night of Sunday the
3rd Instant and on the morning of Monday
the 4th Instant Jones made two journies with
the mobs heading a party each time - the first -
time he appears to have started from the Ponty Pool
Race Ground about 11 - or ‚½ past 11 - o'clock
on the Sunday night - and accompanied this
party by the New Inn and Cross i Ceilog and
most probably accompanied them as far as the
Malpas Turnpike And I think Roberts can
produce a witness who will depose to Jones's
returning from the Turnpike about 3 or 4 o'clock
on the morning of Monday he gave up his arms
to that deponent and he (Jones) returned on the
pretext of going back to fetch more
This can be confirmed by the evidence of
Mrs Glaspbrook of the Cock Inn at Cross i Ceilog
who can prove that Jones returned to her House
about 5 o'clock and remained until another
party came up which he headed and can be
traced at the head of this last party until eleven
o'clock in the forenoon -

I write this merely to set straight and
plain what may seem at first sight a
discrepancy in evidence - D Jones
