Thomas Williams will state: I lived at the house
[blank space ] " of William Adams at Ebbw Vale
in the County of Monmouth - it is a Beer House it is
called The Lamb - I was at the house about eight
o'clock in the evening of Sunday the 3rd Novr when
a number of men came into the house, most of
them were armed with Pikes- I think about twenty
men came into the house, a great many more were
on the outside of the house- the house is situated
by the parish Road Side near Ponty gove [Pont y Gof] Bridge at Ebbw
Vale - Some of the men that came into the house
called for Beer, they had some Beer and went out
a great many men were outside of the room- About
half an hour afterwards another lot of men came in
they were armed with pikes- I think about thirty came into
the House- Some of them had no arms- they asked
for Beer and had some Beer and went away - I and
my father Evan Williams who lodges with me at the house
of William Adams about half past 9 o'clock went into the
parlour and was locked in - a man named Richard
Samuel and his wife and Thomas Williams my Grandfather
and his wife were also in the parlour - we was all locked in
to prevent our being taken away by the Chartists - About
half past ten they all left the parlour but myself and
my father- My father is blind and a cripple having
nearly lost the use of his limbs, myself and my father
remained in the parlour till about 12 o'clock and then
went upstairs and went to Bed- About half an hour after
my father and myself had been in Bed [*] four men came
into the [**] Room, they were all armed, one had a hay-pike
and the other three men had pikes or Spears, they told
me and my father to rise, and William Adams' wife
came upstairs with a candle into the Room and she said
my father was blind. One of the four men said he did
not think so, he was a short stout man he had a
white Riband round his left arm he took the Bed
