Regina v[ersus] George Turner Mary Davies - lives near the floating
Dock - Newport - I was in Newport
on Monday the 4th November instant
I was Standing in High Street -
nearly opposite Mr. Llewellin's the
Draper's Shop It was about a quarter before nine o'Clock Whilst I was Standing
There I saw the mob come down
Stow Hill - I mean the Chartists -
they were armed - Some with
pikes - Some with Guns - and
other weapons - I saw them
fire upon the Westgate - and
break in the windows - I proceeded
from High Street towards the
Westgate to go home - I went on
down Commercial Street - I
stopped near Miss Metcalfs opposite
Mr. King's House about half way
down Commercial Street -
Whilst I was standing there I
saw the Prisoner passing
Mr. King's House on his way
towards the Salutation Inn
at the bottom of Commercial Street

Page 2:
It was about half past nine
o'Clock when I saw him pass -
He had a weapon in his
hand - It looked like a
Pike - I saw him throw it
down in the Road - He stood
near Mrs Knight's the Gin
Shop - He had a small bag
tied to his back - I have seen the Prisoner today and
am quite sure he is the
same Man I saw with
the weapon - I left him
at the Window of the Gin Shop
leaning his back against the
Window - I returned up
toward the Westgate - and
afterwards went home.
