Police Training, Dyffryn House, St. Nicholas

Police Sergeant no. 407 Henry Sheen, Glamorgan Constabulary, who is shown second row, 4th from right. Henry was born in 1888 at Clyro into a farming family. In 1909 he married Elizabeth Ann Jenkins from Tonna, Neath. They had 3 sons. In 1939, he was stationed in Gwau Cae Gurwen and later at Tairgwaith. Henry passed away at Cwmgors in 1952. Published with the kind permission of the owner of the photograph - Rosemary Thomas, the grand-daughter of Henry. During World War 2 and until 1947, Dyffryn House (Dyffryn Gardens) was used as a police and air raid precautions training establishment. *The Ross Mather Police Memorabilia of Wales Collection.
