Transcript of interviews discussing the impact of education on women's lives in Newport from 1950s to 1970s
Description
The interviews with a range of women have highlighted that the biggest impact upon the lives of these women has undoubtedly been the education system. Born in that post-war period where the education system was being overhauled, the interviewees either fell into the tri-part system of secondary modern, grammar school, technical school, or the comprehensive school category. The comprehensive school system began in 1965, meaning those born between in 1954 or after, attended comprehensive school, whilst those born before 1953, attended either secondary modern, grammar or technical school.
