Description

Esther Crandon's ‘Daily Bread Birthday Book’ where she wrote many of her notes about America. Seen here is one page detailing their journey home from America. They left eventually due to the poor health of Esther's parents living in Pontypool and feelings of homesickness. Esther does however express her regret at leaving America, saying they had 'a lovely time, the best of their life' and even suggesting they might return - which they never did. They remained for the rest of their lives in the village of Pantyscallog on the edge of Merthyr Tydfil.
