Description
A condensing beam engine designed and constructed by Neath Abbey Ironworks in 1818 for Vivian & Sons’ Hafod Copper Works, Swansea, with a 40" diameter cylinder to power the copper rolling mills. Reliability would be vital, to avoid halting production. Neath Abbey continued making parts for it until 1857, a testament to its quality.
