Description

Seen on the left is my great-grandfather, Henry Charles Crandon, with my grandfather, Albert standing next to him along with another boy. This is the earliest photograph I've seen of Albert when he was aged ten. This would therefore have been in 1907 and is pictured next to his father, who is referred to as Charlie, although his name was Henry Charles, and another boy. All their faces are covered in coal dust. Albert's father is holding a pick axe and Albert and the other child are holding lamps.
