Description
Mike’s father was an Italian prisoner of war in the area during WWII. Sent to work on a farm in Whitson, he stayed on after the war, settling in the village. Mike grew up there, near Court Farm. As a teenager Mike helped out on the fishing ranks at Goldcliff. Later joined the steelworks.
