Thisiswhere, according to tradition, Archbishop Baldwinof Canterbury preached in support of the Third Crusadeon his journey through Wales in 1188. He was accompanied by Giraldus Cambrensis (Gerald of Wales). However, only the lower third of the shaft and the setting stone is original.
