Description

A black and white postcard with the title; The Nave and unknown warriors grave, Westminster Abbey. There is an additional, larger, title of; Futchers the Oak - Rhayader. The Unknown warrior is linked with the Futcher family, and Rhayader, as it is believed that Lieutenant Charles Edwin Futcher was one of the only people to know his identity due to his part in moving many fallen soldiers from mass graves to military cemetaries in France and Belgium. It is believed that the fallen warrior was chosen due to the lack of insignia of rank or regiment on his uniform and the ‘universal’ buttons on his tunic.
