Howard Winstone was a featherweight from Merthyr Tydfil. He turned professional in 1959 and was unbeaten for his first 34 contests. He won the British Featherweight title in 1961 and in 1968 he acheived his ambition of becoming World Featherweight Champion, beating Mitsunori Seki of Japan in the 9th round.
